Meet the Staff

Our passionate staff takes great pride in helping students succeed, bringing years of experience and knowledge to their work. Read on below to get to know some of our team members.

Ms. Flora Brooks

CEO

Ms. Brooks is the CEO of Reaching For the Stars and the daughter of City Councilman Richard Brooks.

​

She has over 20 years of experience in supporting students and families in academics for social and personal behavior in the school and home environment. She has many experiences that indicate skills beyond those in the classroom, such as: a lead teacher at the After School Enrichment Program, substitute teacher at various schools and a nursing assistant. Other accomplishments are volunteering at a variety of organizations: The 4-H Club, American Red Cross, Elementary School and a Day Care Center, training at East Carolina University Pre-school Laboratory, and an Internship at Beaufort Community College.

Having a great passion for student's success, as well as supporting the school and home environments, she offers high enthusiasm and motivation for success, growth and achievement. It is her firm goal to enrich the lives of students, adults and families. She has developed community relationships and manages an effective worker/client friendly environment. She is a strong advocate for the early childhood developmentally appropriate programs and practices. It is her hope to enhance the quality of their educational experience by providing resources and supporting them with the tools they will need to make their dreams become reality.

Keisha Langley

President

Keisha Langley is the President of Reaching For the Stars and the daughter of Flora Brooks.

​

She has volunteered at the local Boys and Girls Club for several years and tutored children in reading and writing. She has a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice from East Carolina University and a M.S. in Public Safety Leadership from Capella University.

​

She has a passion for helping kids succeed and is a mentor and motivator to several youth. She was also selected to become an intern at the State Bureau of Investigation in 2007. She went on to become a Probation Officer.

Mr. Wali J. Saleem

Mathematics tutor

Mr. Saleem is a retired educator who spent his entire career in service to Beaufort County Schools.
